Pot Bellied Pigs
Another new addition to Lilylane Farm is our Pot Bellied Pig Wilbur. We aquired Wilbur at the end of April 2009 and were so captivated by him and his tiny size that we decided to make an attempt at finding him a similar sized mate for breeding.
Wilbur has been a wonderful addition to the farm. While we intially had to adjust to and manage some of his pig behaviours such as visiting the neighbours near and far, mounting our furniture and digging up various things, we seem to have worked out a schedule and some rules that suit, the people, the other animals and Wilbur. Wilbur has become well adjusted to wearing a harness and going for walks with us, he loves his little house where he sleeps at night all covered up by a blanket (yes pigs actually will cover themselves up to sleep) and he loves meeting anyone who comes to visit the farm.
In addition to Wilbur in June we aquired Angel. We know little about Angel in terms of her age and past history. She was purchased at an auction by a lady who found she did not fit at her home and gave her to us. Angel had a bad case of mange mites when we first got her but with a little TLC and some vet care she has improved greatly. She is very beautiful and we look forward to some very nice babies from her and Wilbur.
